Today has been a rare lovely sunny day, perfect for taking pictures, and I discovered something new!
Just south of the Kremlin, on a small pedestrian bridge, are a series of metal tree statues. As part of the Russian wedding day line up, newly married couples come to affix a lock with their names on it, as a symbol of their eternal commitment to one another.
The locks come in all shapes and sizes: some elaborately engraved with the names and the date of the wedding, others just simple locks on which names are written in paint or (I'm quite sure) nail polish.
But there, amongst the Dimas and Anyas, the Mishas and the Mashas, and the Igors and the Valentina's, I was touched to find this lock, belonging to Katya and Natasha. Good for you devushki!
